Richard Wilbur, Dead at 96. Translated 'The Bungler' For Long Wharf Theatre
Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and translator for the stage Richard Wilbur died Saturday at the age of 96.
I had the honor of interviewing him at his home in the Berkshires in 2000 for a story on his translation of Moliere's "The Bungler" for New Haven's Long Wharf Theatre.
Theater fans will also know Wilbur wrote lyrics for opera and musical theater productions, including Leonard Bernstein’s “Candide.”
I took these pictures at the timer. Love the typewriter.
