Randy Harrison To Join TheaterWorks' 'Christmas On The Rocks'
Randy Harrison, who recently starred in “Angels in America” at Berkley Rep, “Sunday in the Park with George” at the Guthrie and the national tour of “Cabaret” as the Emcee, will join the cast of “Christmas on the Rocks,” TheaterWorks’ holiday anthology of slightly twisted tales.
Harrison succeeds Matthew Wilkas in the show at the downtown Hartford theater. Wilkas will be featured in a new sitcom series starring RuPaul.
Remaining in the show — which enters its sixth year Nov. 27 to Dec. 23 — will be Jenn Harris and Tom Bloom.
Harrison is perhaps best know for his role as Justin Taylor in the American version of “Queer as Folk” on Showtime from 2000 to 2005.
Harrison also played Andy Warhol in Yale Repertory Theatre’s premiere of the musical “Pop.” He has many theater credits from working at the Berkshire (Mass.) Theatre Festival in roles since 2005 in “ Equus,” “Amadeus,” “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” “"Mrs. Warren's Profession,” “Endgame,” “Ghosts,” “Waiting for Godot” and the title character in The Who's "Tommy."
He made his Broadway debut as Boq in the musical “Wicked.” Off Broadway roles include “A Letter for Ethel Kennedy,” “Edward II,” "Antony and Cleopatra,” “Harbor” and “Singing Forest.:” He also was in the popular off-Broadway parody “Silence” with “Christmas on the Rocks”’s Harris.
“Christmas on the Rocks”: features short comic plays by John Cariani, Jenn Harris & Matthew Wilkas, Jeffrey Hatcher, Jacques Lamarre, Theresa Rebeck, and Edwin Sanchez. The plays take children characters featured in holiday classics and revisiting them as troubled adults.
